    2010 regen,

Going in Monday again for Jake rocker plunger repair kit, think this is some issue.
Replace one last week, valves are staying open a tad.

Forward. Forward is your 13th ( Freeway ) gear.

The 13 I'm using is in a '08 Century with 505HP Series 60. The only advantage I see is downshifting when your going up a big hill.

We have some newer Cascadia's with the standard DD15 / 455HP / 10 speeds and they will leave that Century in the dust, and when I take one of those its heavy 78 or 79K. And it's runs that go strait up 17, 144 miles uphill with 3 good climbs.

Maybe cause the 60 is getting tired. But I cut my teeth on almost the same truck in '05 with 500 ( 505? ) HP & a 13 and it seems the same to me.

The Mack RD822sx in my avatar has a 12-speed. It's fun to see how fast you can go in reverse and you can put it in Lo/Lo reverse and it will just crawl backwards. Shifts like a Super 10 in the forward gears.

Yes, that's a knob for a Spicer P1241 4-speed auxiliary trans. The "P" stands for air shift, on the regular 1241 you'll have another stick to shift the auxiliary.

I've seen several older 8LL transmissions with the box pattern, they seemed to all be in Brigadiers, behind a Detroit. I don't know why that is unless the ratios were different to match the Detroit powerband. Most 8LLs you see are the standard "H" pattern, basically a 9 speed with with a low split on the lower gears, or a backwards 13 speed.

But all 13 are usable. if you are heavy, you start in first and go though the gears. That's 12. if you are backing in to a dock, and you have to pull forward, most people will put it in low, and that's all 13.

In a 15, essentially it is a 10 that you can split low range down for granny gears. Who really needs to upshift granny gears? And if I'm not mistaken, you don't split like you would a 13 or 18. Rather you would go 1g to 2g to 3g, then back to 1l, 2l, 3l then 4g, etc. 10LL sounds more appropriate.
