I was planning on going back over the road. I haven't driven in 11 years but have maintained my CDL. Maverick said the would hire me without taking a refresher course. But after doing some research I realize I may be disqualified from working for them. I have a misdemeanor marijuana possession conviction from 2001. I paid a fine and it was over. Do I have any options? I don't smoke weed anymore and haven't in a long time
13 year old misdemeanor

That was a long time ago. Unless it says "ever" I think you're safe. Not being on the road in 11 years will inhibit you more than a minor out misdemeanor from almost 13 years ago. If nothing else on your record and a clean CDL, someone will take you.

Thanks Joseph. I guess I will find out tomorrow when I talk to their recruiter again
I guess the worst part is I will probably have to attend driving school again and I will have to owe money to a trucking company until I drive long enough to pay it offblairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Where do you live?? That would be a giant help in pointing you in the right direction.

And 11 year old misdemeanor is not something that should even come up. I would see a lawyer and get it expunged from you record but I cannot remember any application that asked about misdemeanors of that nature and age. It would be different if you had a DUI connected with it.
NEVER GIVE MORE INFORMATION THEN IS ASKED FOR.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
I got a copy of my NC driving record and it was listed on there from PA in 2001. I am honest and will not try to conceal something that will be discovered and come back to bite me in the rear later

misdemeanor marijuana possession conviction is always a bad mark for a truck driver im not trying to blame you because we all make mistake but stay away from these kinda charges if you want to drive truck good luck.
