I feel for you, I loved my old 12.7 detroits, but do not know anything about the newer egr ones. Mine it was obvious when a turbo went.

That is great.
I did this to the turbo on my cat, and it was not too long before it broke the turbo shaft.
The turbo had a bunch of miles on it and it may have just been time, and I have known guys that run them like that for years or even just get turbos with no wastegate, but have been leary of pinching it off again.
By not too long I am talking a couple of months.Intothesunset and OldeSkool Thank this. -
Well it was a short lived fix. Now its doing it again. Gonna try replacing the sensor. I've taken everything off around the turbo and made sure it clean, the turbo itself seems fine.
I won't own another 14 liter. Used to drive a 12.7 it had just as much power and better fuel mileage.Intothesunset Thanks this. -
I've never liked the 14 liter but only drove the EGR 14. The 12.7 always seemed better. The engine are two completely seperate block designs.
The 11.1 and 12.7 are the same block.OldeSkool Thanks this.
