Hi guys..
Kinda narrowed it to two companies here.. I have the GI bill, so I will get my VA pay every month with either company.
I am from Indy and Schneider has a terminal there. By the looks of their equipment Roehl wins it there. Pay wise? Not sure.. I see Schneider has $1,000 bonus for new drivers..
Any advice?
14/7.. Schneider or Roehl?

both seem to be great companies to me so far. Schneider is supposed to have a truck simulator in all of their training facilities. The pay seems to be about the same to me. Just have to figure out which one you like best. Look into the home times and figure out which one suits your needs better and then you can decide between these two.

Thanks for the reply, Wolf..
Schneider looks better so far. I can go to Roadmaster in Indy, orientation with Schneider in Indy, and when I am back from the road I can drop the tractor in their Indy terminal and drive home which is about 30 minutes away. I just think their equipment looks more beat up and people on here always saying how the trucks break down.. Other then the equipment, it looks good to me.. Oh, plus they give bonuses to recent school graduates for some positions.. LOL -
Are you sure they give a Bonus to students Ive never hesrd of that most of the time its for Exp drivers unless they are desperate for drivers.I here they are a good starter company but sure you will be tfesged like crap they are a huge company and the big ones usually dont give a #### abouf their drivers.

Do you work for SNI? I do, and I'm no new driver. I get treated very well here. Yes they are a huge company. Nothing wrong with that. But I personally have no issues here with getting miles, equipment or anything else.

Before I got on with my company I interviewed with and got an offer from Schneider for there bulk tanker division and was two days out from heading to Appleton with roehl so here's what I know about both(keep in mind the pay for Schneider was with bulk tank don't know what van pay is )
Schneider
.32 cents a mile to start and as of a month ago had the bonus. No apu or epu and cannot idle between 20 and 72? I believe. Maybe get lucky and get a cascadia with opti idle
Roehl
.32 cents a mile to start, after two months gain .02 then after another 2 months gain another .02 so at 6 months your at .36. It then switches to where depending on a matrix you can either gain or lose cpm based on fuel efficiency safety on time etc.
orientation is eight days and once you finish they give you 600 for it which is there "sign in bonus". You then go with a trainer for 9-14 days. The trainers have to log on line 4 and be in passenger seat which is nice while your driving none of the team bs. Your paid 90 a day for every training day you log 6 hours or more.
After that you will test out and get your own truck with a load for home time you'll then be in "phase 3" for 60ish days where your on an 11-3 schedule on nation van fleet . During that time you have different driver managers specifically for newbies
They seem to be getting a lot of new trucks but 99% have apu or epu for comfort and it seems to be mostly prostars and cascadias. Once you transition to 14-7 you will share 2 trucks with 3guys so you have to unpack everything which could suck. And some guys complain saying you get short miles your second week since you have to be dispatched to the yard for the other guy to take the truck....whereas if you stay on 11-3 they will try to get you home at 11 but may e you'll get a good run and stay out another day or two but it's worth it etc
Hope this helps I researched this to death and was aday away from starting with roehl before I got my current job which I couldn't pass up!Nightwind8830 Thanks this. -
Neither.
I see you're from Indianapolis. Try Sodrel. They have their own CDL school (off West st just south of McCarty), and they are a LTL mail carrier. You'll be paid by the hour and home every night. Once you get at least 3 years of safe driving under your belt with Sodrel, jump ship and head on over to the Post Office on S Capital. You can carry over your military benefits to the Post Office and double-down on your retirement. Don't go OTR if you don't want to. There is plenty of opportunity in Indy if you know where to look and have the right background.Last edited: Aug 3, 2013

Hi Scarface...
Schneider does have some bonuses to new drivers but not as much as an experienced driver would get. One position I saw had a $5,000 bonus for exp and only $1,000 for a newbie.. -
I will check them out now.. Thanks for the info, Ghost..

I just went to their school web page and it doesn't say how much tuition cost..
