And both drivers will need to take a 30 minute break before the 8 hour mark.

With two drivers and no sleeper, they can only max out drive time of 13.5 hours together.

    underandover Thanks this.

Not necessarily. Why couldn't the co-driver log their 30 at the 7:00 mark (while driver #1 is still driving) Then when the first driver logs their 30 (let's say at the 7:45 mark) The co-driver then goes from "On-duty" to "Driving" and drives the remaining 6 hours and 15 minutes? Thereby driving the full 14 hour clock .
There's no rule saying they have to take their 30 at the same time.....

NO they don't have to take their break at the same time, but the first driver CAN NOT take his break in the jump seat while the other one drives.

But there is a way it can be legal, it just limits each driver to 8 hours of drive time a day... once the first driver reaches the 8 hour mark, he can not drive the rest of the day. Does not stop him from working, just driving.

    It's a day cab.

Neither driver can legally log off duty while the truck is moving.

You have the jest of the rule, however there are things you can do to extend that 14 hour rule. The first being is a "split" sleeper. It gets confusing at first , but once you master it you can abuse the hell out it lmao.
If you start at 8 am and lets say drive for 8 hours, when you have to show your break. That would take you to 2pm ,,, now,,, to split your sleeper berth you have to be in the bunk for a min of 8 hours for your first break. Now we're at 10 pm, you drive for your remaining 3 hours, take 2 hours in the bunk and walla, when you get up you can drive another 8, then take another 8 hour siesta,, etc. If your on electronic logs this trick will not work, however , if your on paper logs get er done. The short story of it is that you can split your sleeper berth, just the first break has to be at least 8 hours. I hope this helps you, good luck unless of course you don't read the other posts where you mention that you are in a box truck without a sleeper and have a co driver,, in that case , your screwed,,, you can not even show in the sleeper, even if the other guy is driving you have to be on duty not driving,, good way to burn up hours.

I guess you did not see that he has no sleeper and they spend the down time in hotels.

I hate the 11 hr rule. It is way to easy to bump into that without being tired. That being said I don't see why anyone would want to work more than 14 hrs in a day. If I started work at 8am I would for sure want to call it quits by 10pm especially if I had to do the same thing the next day at 8am.
