Long time lurker first time poster here. My self and 4 others will finish our CDL here in Virginia in the next few weeks, I my self have a little time before I need to get right to work full time, the others will be hitten the road the following Monday. I decided to help out the younger ones by getting the info for them so they can make an educated decision on where to spend the 1st year. That being said I have been taking down questions from the forums over the past two months and widdled the list down to 15 questions to ask the recruiter. Im calling all of them, good and bad. Will post the answers as they come in. Doing this to just help out my classmates, nothing gained by me so please send your comments. I called four companys today, Prime, Maverick, Schnieder and Werner and wow did I get the spectrum of info.

Ones again, thanks to all and this very informative site!!!

    Some more for you.

Can you switch trainers if it doesn't work between the two of you for whatever reason?
    Idling policy.
    Inverter installation policy.
Is per diem built into the pay?
    Breakdown and layover pay.
Do they like you to run using 34 resets or working off recap? Some companies prefer one over the other.
Are they no touch or is unloading involved? Pay for unloading.
How many miles do they usually put on a truck before they pull it from the fleet.
How does the pay period work? Do they use TRANSFLO and does it cost you? Do bills have to be sent in by a certain day to get paid during a week?
General hometime policy and where they want the truck when you go home.

I'm sure there's more but that's all I have off the top of my head atm. I know you seem more focused on the training aspect, but training is the shortest part of your career and these are things that will be more important in the long run IMO. I know it's easy to get into the mindset of, "I just want to get trained somewhere and put in my time" but there are places that will train you, treat you well and be somewhere you might possibly stay awhile.

Don't forget the most frequently asked question on TTR:

Do they do a hair follicle test?

    Ha,ha.

I agree! Training only lasts for 6-8 weeks. Add more questions about the other 44-46 weeks of your first year.

YEs sir, phase 2 of my question asking was going to come from all of your inputs. This is merely initial questions to weed the field down. Thanks a ton for the input.
