So I have indeed confirmed that the input shaft on this particular 15 speed uses a lip seal. I will upload photos when the website gets its crap together and lets me upload photos off my phone.

    SAR and BoxCarKidd Thank this.

So now I got the seal sorted out. Now the ####### input shaft is too big to fit through the input bearing! Guess what? The #### input bearing has been updated too! I'm about 10 minutes away from tossing this POS into the scrap bin and buying a reman. Guess I'll go reorder the S-1409 input shaft. ####!

At this point I pretty much have to power forward. I've got $1k invested into it in parts I can't return.

When it comes time to worry about the engine I think I'm just gonna stuff a reman from Finning in it and avoid all this crap again lol.

I would look for a bearing # on the old one and or buy one from a bearing supplier by dimensions. If you do the shaft you will also need the bearing cover and maybe the spacer behind it.

So I talked to the service manager at the Gear Center this morning. Apparently yes it is normal for the input shaft to be a bit sloppy in the drive gear. They ordered me up their aftermarket brand as they have a tighter tolerance on the gear teeth than Eaton. We'll see tomorrow morning.

Oh and he thought I was on glue too when I told him my input has a lip seal. Then I showed him the photos :D

It is what it is. I work 21/7 which leaves me like 2 or 3 days a month to work on this project. If I start getting frustrated I just work on something else and come back to it next month.

Well finally something goes right on this job! The teeth do indeed appear to be correct, as does the rest of the shaft. Yes that is my kitchen counter. I'm just that hardcore lol.
