    Quick question:

I have the main box and the aux section timed properly. I am going to put the 2 sections together now. The manual doesn't make any mention of timing the 2 sections to each other when bolting them together. I would assume if they needed to be timed, it would have been mentioned. Just want to make sure I do this right the first time.

No timing marks but they must be in the correct spot. I thank the easiest way is to stand the main case bellhousing down on blocks. Hang the back box off the yoke and lower it into the rear of the main case. Does your rear box have ball or tapered countershaft bearings?

What is the correct spot? I did see I have to shift it into deep reduction first before assembling it.

Its got double row ball bearings on the rear of the countershaft and snap rings to hold the countershaft in the bearing.

Those are pretty much child proof. Just ease it down in the main case and snug up some bolts. I prefer to be able to hook up air lines as in truck or at least do all air functions some how. Turn the rear yoke in high and low, dirrect and OD, your good to go. Get all the bolts in, then the pins and tighten bolts.
The ones with tapered bearings, like wheel bearings, are more challenging.

Thanks. Once I get some new bolts tomorrow I'm going to finally finish this thing off.

Another quick question. Just cleaned up and installed the bell housing. The transmission still spins over easily and doesn't feel like its binding but it feels stiffer than before I had the bellhousing on. Is this something to be concerned about or is it just simply a result of the input and front countershaft bearings being seated into their permanent position in the case?

    Oxbow Thanks this.

I do not know but I had a problem one time when I tightened the bellhousing first. When I put the input bearing cover on second it locked the shaft down.
If you can turn it by hand I doubt you have a problem.

I've got everything back together now. Shifted it through a few gears and kicked it between hi, low and deep reduction a few times. It seems ok. New air lines, a cooler and paint and its good to go.
