Hello all. I have been given a new truck and cannot activate the Opti-idle system. I have been through the manual and videos from Freightliner with no success. No matter what I do the IDLE MGMT light never activates. (It does at startup). Oddly enough when idling it never shuts down. It will run all night with no interaction. It does also have an engine shutdown override button which seems not to be necessary as it never shuts down. I'm trying to stop the idling all night as it's 116 degrees outside and the truck starts to run warm and the AC turns itself off in the night. I wake up to warm air blowing out the dash. Please help. Thanks
So is it a new truck or 2017 truck? We run Cascadia‘s exclusively and have opti-idle and a Parksmart system. The only times our optimized idle is disabled is if there’s a problem with the park smart so the truck will run without messing with it. It has to be done in the computer. Maybe yours has been disabled. Also the shut down override is for when you have a red stop engine light, you can push it every 30 seconds or so to keep the truck running so you can limp it to an exit or something.
Thank you for clarifying. And the truck is a 2017 with 15k miles . Idk why it was never really placed into service. It has been doing very small oddball things with the manufacturer.
I'm so glad to see this. My company has me in a 2022 Cascadia--DD15 with adaptive cruise yada yada. It's very comfortable and I'm getting used to not having my clutch under my left foot. We lease the truck from Ryder and they do all the maintenance and are the only ones who have laptops with the right software to work on the trucks. I would like to use the comfort feature on the optimized idle when the weather gets warmer, but optimized idle doesn't even show up as an option as I scroll through all the screens. I've had the truck for a couple of months and have been searching everywhere for a clue as to why it won't show up. Obviously, Ryder has it turned off. I have been hesitant to ask them to turn it on, because I don't want to hear from them that we are forbidden to use it. Is there any workaround? Or will I need to befriend someone at Ryder who will turn it on for me? I drive in various states (regional) and would be happy to meet up with someone, somewhere, to get it turned on. I would even pay them for their time.
