17" Neck = Sleep Apnea Test?

    It is to my understanding that if one has larger than a 17" neck because of having to much fat around the neck, he could be subjected to a sleep test.

    Whats the deal with 17" because mine is right at 17" which i have no fat around my neck, it's just thick from working out alot, because i like to hit the iron when i have time off.

    It mostly goes by your BMI. Most DOT docs don't really enforce it. It just really depends on what company you are trying to go to work for.

    There are lot's of thread's in here about that. I myself have it and have a 16 neck size. I have 1 cpap machine at home and 1 in the truck.

    Yeah thanx guys for the responce, im right at 6 ft and 225 lbs. and can deff pinch an inch, but im stocky built though.

    Sure i get tired some, and dont feel like driving at times, but i usually figured thats because the way my company like to run us (mostly into the grownd) if they can get away with it.

    That link is so full of it. 5'10" and 210 lbs you are considered obese. It takes no consideration in for body frames.

    Just like HOS, there are many variables and they try to come up with a single answer.

    Ok then....Another test....Standing straight up look down & if you cant see your dick then you are either obese or pregnant...

    That's only with a minority of physicians . FMCSA doesn't require testing based on BMI or neck size .
    We know CRST and Prime should be avoided regarding this . There are undoubtably others . There should be a docked thread in the Drivers Health forum listing company physicians recommending testing simply because of BMI or neck size .

    when i worked for Crete in the summer of '09, they were not testing for anything BMI related, but i have heard that they were thinking about it though.
