18 Wheeler stuck in Zion National Park tunnel

Note from Big Don, there are also numerous signs, well before the turnoffs to the park, warning that no through commercial vehicles are allowed in the park.

Unless they were able to free him and allow him to continue on WB, by letting air out of his tires, this must have been an "interesting recovery" operation, to say the least. The tunnel is 1.1 mile in length, so at 600 feet he almost made it. But there is a curve in the tunnel, there is no lighting in the tunnel, and the only way a van trailer could get through, would be to stay right in the middle of the narrow road. This is such a mess, that they require escorts for buses, motor homes and travel trailers, because they have to straddle the center line, to keep from hitting the roof.





The snake road in the background is what he would find on the west side of the tunnel.



This is the guard station where they stop traffic if an oversize is coming through.

Nobody was injured, and hopefully that driver is now looking for work. The reason I'm making a big deal out of this, is that it just shows once again, that driving HUA, and depending on a GPS, (if in fact he was depending on it, and not using it as an excuse,) can have serious consequences.
