I would love to see a mandate stating "No GPS usage for a trainee while training". Probably not workable, though.

Too many trainers these days rely on them too much as it is.....

    Merry Christmas back at'cha Don.
Heck I've been through that tunnel quite a few times..............................on my Harley.:biggrin_25525:

you gotta be kidding me........and I thought the USA Truck "U-turn", the Schneider stuck under the Dunkirk NY overpass, the Prime idiot stuck on a National Forest mountain trail, and the moron who tried to cross that pedestrian bridge near Milwaukee were bad...sdmh

OK, I've got a bunch of multi quotes here. (Redundant statement, huh.) Let's see if I can sort through them.

Sorry, but I don't buy it. This seems to me like just another attempt to excuse stupidity, and frankly I'm surprised as hell that you would go that route! I know training sucks now. I also know that drivers have to pass an eye examination to pass their DOT physical.

Why in the world would you leave Hurricane for Boise? Just curious. Nothing against Boise, other than it is getting too big, but then St. George and surrounds are spreading out a lot too.

I find it impossible to believe that any GPS would route him through Zion to get from Kanab to Vegas. It is (not much,) but a little longer. It is (not much but a bit slower, except when tourists are on it, in which case it is a WHOLE LOT SLOWER.) It takes you through a national park where there is an entrance fee. It takes you over a much worse road than going down through Fredonia and over to Colorado City.

All of these things tell me that he was NOT following his GPS, at least when he left Kanab.

At that time of night, Ricky Ranger was all tucked away in his little trundle bed, (probably with his thumb in his mouth.):biggrin_25522:

There are no covers on the booths, or "ice cream stands," as I like to call them. . .

    Not on either side.

    Yes, right on.

My first thought was this idiot just wanted to sight see. But then when you figure in the time of day, you can't see a whole lot at O Dark Thirty.

No kidding. People have been taught right from elementary school all the way up through high school, that they don't have to take responsibility for their actions. Get straight A's or straight F's, the school system is going to boot you on up the grade level and get you out as fast as they can.

Patty, I may be wrong, but I just do not believe there is ANY way that a company routed this clown through Zion.

    ^^^^^^^^^^AND I BELIEVE WE HAVE A WINNER HERE!^^^^^^^^^^
Oh I'll bet that sounded NICE! Took my Gold Wing through there several times years ago, but the difference in sound would be a blast! Literally!:yes2557:

When will everyone understand, GPS is a tool and only a tool, Just like a Map, Getting directions from the farmer too turn left at the red barn with 4 sheeps and if you went past Johnnys pub went too far. Go into johnnys pub and johnny will escort you to his best friends farm.

Everything is a tool, Use the tools and have common sense :biggrin_2559:

Oh yeah, tunnels are fun on a Harley, we have lots of them up here in the PAC NW.
One of my favorite rides is Washington SR14 up the Columbia River Gorge across the river from I-84,there's a bunch of nearly 100 year old tunnels...Varoom!

if he was going from kanab to vegas. he took the wrong route to begin with.

the correct route would be to swing back down into AZ. over to the polygamous towns back into utah and the 15. where you would have been 27 miles to the AZ state line.

that was a long ways out of route.
