I'm familiar with FMCSA Annual Inspections pursuant to 49 CFR Part 396, but I'm being asked for a "19-point ASE Certified Inspection" and I'm not sure if my last Annual Vehicle Inspection Report qualifies. Does anyone know?

It would help if we knew who was asking for it.

Yeah there is such a thing, it is a 19 point inspection done by an ase certified mechanic.
This is done on smaller vehicles, not on trucks. Lyft and uber both have a check list on their website.
You dot inspection is the only legal inspection that is required and covers more than 19 points.Swadian Thanks this. -
City of Phoenix Aviation Department is asking for it.
I don't have a vehicle smaller than a CMV with GVWR 44,400 lb, so I guess I don't need this? City of Phoenix, Aviation Department hasn't gotten back to me about whether they'll accept a DOT inspection. -
The dot inspection is the official inspection that the state accepts for road vehicles.
Swadian Thanks this. -
Got it. Well, I just hope the City of Phoenix will accept it. They told me to get that ASE inspection even though I told 'em it's a CMV.

While true, This sounds like he is trying to lease on to a company that just happens to be the government. They can still make up requirements they want.
That said it's likely just bureaucratic cruft. All vehicles must meet this standard, and they have no provision for actual CMV annuals in the paper work. If they reject it, simply ask them what they want. I'm sure they can point you to a location that will do it. -
I got that from the first time he mentioned the city. So I asked my safety girl last night about it because she used to work for Indianapolis and she said that the 19 point inspection was for smaller vehicles and that was a codified requirement however having the DOT inspection done by an ASE Heavy Truck certified mechanic who will write their cert number down on the form was acceptable for them and met the requirements.Farmerbob1, Swadian, Lepton1 and 1 other person Thank this.

They got back to me and said they'll accept the Annual Vehicle Inspection Report pursuant to 49 CFR Part 396.
