You can't access the threading door hinges on this '48. I heat the 5/16" screws. Screws are a real ##### because apply torque damages head. Same with disassembling K model IHC's. They use 2 dozen nutserts assembling front clip. I don't heat the nutsert as I don't want sheet metal getting hot. If you have fibreglass or aluminum to deal with only penetrating oil and patience.

Wasn't as bad as I thought. Have the whole truck painted olive drab need to do the top in another layer of White and put hockey puck with white pin strip on top of it to break it up a little. Then get back to wiring and guage issues. Trying to find field service reuseble hydro ends... She's starting to look like one truck again

Steel bolts through an aluminum frame and road salt. My '85 F/L broke the lefthand frame rail between the bolts for the bracket at the rear of the front spring.

Central MN. Paint is a temporary job till I get I can get her on the road then new frame rails and a complete soda blasting to the cab and Tel Tek guages. I just need her to go up and down the road I am trying to get her going before the end of the year. Power plant is closing next year so I want to be in her before I quit this job. Trust me I wanted to paint her properly but shell do for the time being trust me this is 200x better than before... I had to do something quick I don't have proper area to paint her way I want this was my so called quick fix to mark one thing off the list. Frame is getting black tractor enamel soon. Lets see how she shoots in the gun first.

I used Utech epoxy primer to paint a sandblasted truck frame few years back. It is incredibly durable and topcoat with industrial black paint. The industrial paint I thinned with naphtha gas to reduce the sheen in the paint.
FYI the olive drab is a great colour for the underside of your visor. Back in the day all Fulton visors were olive drab on the underside to reduce glare. Top side was colour of vehicle.

    Grubby and Adisiwaya Thank this.
