Hey fella's, I just picked up this W9A with this swapped 8TC in it, but it sat in a dusty field for about 2 years with the intake open. I was told that its likely that dust wont really go beyond the aftercooler and that I could just take that off n flush it out. Im trying to avoid having to do a teardown, so what else would you guys recommend if thats not good enough?? Also, whats the max safe HP that can be cranked outa one of these and at what torque??

I'd pull the intake piping off as close to the intake manifold as possible and see what it looks like. Probably won't need much more than a good rinse and let it dry.
Catmando and Marmon110P Thank this. -
It was disconnected at the air to air...so luckily the piping goes upwards to help some...

It the engine isn’t running there really isn’t anywhere for it to go. Think about it where are you rinsing it to? That’s right the bottom whether it’s on a piston or the pan. I’d pull the intake and roll it by hand to make sure a dirt dobber or field mouse isn’t calling it home. Vacuum what you can with a small shop vac and put er back together.
The horsepower and torque you can get out of it is wrote right on that valve cover. I’m not being a smart ### but you want power and torque of an electronic put one in it. An 8PN is the hardest of them to make power out of. Or put in line at the little shop that built mine. But it won’t be cheap. 30 to 35k ish will get you 650 to the wheels on CAT parts provided the block is worth building without a bunch of machine work.dwells40, Marmon110P, 062 and 1 other person Thank this. -
