Hello. I have a question. I own a 1982 W900A that had the engine and transmission replaced some years ago. The original engine was a cummins and a eaton transmission. The engine put in is a 3406B Cat with a 14613 Eaton transmission. My question is this: Is there supposed to be a rear transmission mount of some kind?? I see that there is transmission spring/mounts on eBay and I was wondering if there should be one on my truck also. If so does anyone know a part number or something like that on the mount I should get a hold off and put on???
Thanks for the help.

How long have you been running it without the mount? And what is the wheelbase of thw truck?

I do believe the above post is correct. Earlier KW's had a support that ran across the back of the transmission, bolted to the top housing with 2 bolts, and ran to the frame rails. I remember a flat bar that rested on a bracket that was on each frame rail. Broke one once, never fixed it, ran that way for a long time. Welding shop could easily build one.

Real Deal : I have no idea og how long it has been running without the support. It has 265 Inch wheelbase.
bender: Ok that I can make myself. Doesn anyone know about any pictures of that or drawings that might help me see how it should be??? Have to look and see if there are any holes in the area that have been used before. -
That's where I was going. No more than that rear mount does if it hasn't been there in years I would not worry about putting it on.

Ok. I guess it hasnt been there for the last 7 or 8 years. Went looking for some info in the emails I got from the guy I bought the truck from in NJ and I think the engine/transmission was replaced in 2004/5.
So if its not a big problem not having one I dont think I will bother putting one on. Maybe if I have the time I can fabricate something that hangs on the crossmember I have 10 inches from the transmission just to prevent it from dropping down if something should happen. Just have to look and see. Going to drop the transmission sometime this winter to replace a clutch and some seals and can take a look then on the bell housing if there are any cracks or problems there.
Thanks for the answers guys. -
yup thats how it was on the old 85' kw w900b i drove just had a piece of steel flatbar bolted to top of trans but was more of a support then it was a mount. No rubber cushion there.
