Will a 60 series Detroit or 3406 Cat fit in this truck? There is an 855 Cummins that requires out of frame. Looking at all options. TIA

Plenty of those came with 3406B's, and even the ATAAC, so there should be room for the aftercooler to fit a Detroit. Although you'll likely have to fab mounts for the S60, and wiring would be a PITA, too.
Catmando Thanks this. -
I've seen a 12.7 series in a Standhood 359 .. if thats what your Referring too .. You realize that there is a actual shoot hood you can spot 1 easy because rge grill surround is wider & the hoods are fiberglass.. those trucks had 3406bs in them.
I would learn towards putting a 3406b in .. but I'am Partial to Cats
You gonna end yp doing alot of Applicating & wiring to get that 12.7 in there not that it can't be done its only time & money ..lol -
I believe that the 359's that came with CAT motors had firewalls that were set back or had a recess so as to accommodate the bigger engine.
Probably the same for a KT Cummins, those are a big hunk of iron (But boy could they pull)Oxbow Thanks this. -
I have found a replacement 855 but only 290 hp. Wondering if this will be enough to haul 1200 bu of soybeans? My area doesn't have any hills so will be pulling on flat ground but sometimes fields are soft. The truck has a 7 speed so takes a while to get going with 350 hp. How much will I miss that 60 hp?
