I didn't look at any drains to the oil pan, I thought there should be no oil in the air box but I will check to see. Also could there be a bad valve in the head of the engine dumping oil back into the piston and pushing the oil through the open sleeves

Oil in the air box can have a few different causes but most of them involve disassembly to verify & repair. Like Box Car said wrist pin seals, worn rings can all cause the issue. You could just take apart the side thats pumping the oil. If the heads are ok you could put some liner kits in it. If you end up reusing the pistons be sure to disassemble them & replace the seal ring between the skirt & dome.
When you replaced the blower did you go over the governor settings to be sure the racks are balanced?BoxCarKidd and SheepDog Thank this. -
At one time ( 1978-81? ) The air box drains were connected to the oil pan. It did not work out and a campaign was sent out to remove and let em slobber on the ground. That and the correct oil can make a big difference.
Some oil in the air box is normal and why they have air box drains to relieve it. That is a 2 cycle engine like a chainsaw, made to run not idle.cnsper Thanks this. -
So that's where the term "Green Leaker" comes from I guess.

The only reason a detroit dosent leak oil is because its out of oil.
