What make of truck. It is possible the wiring isn't correct at the batteries. N14 uses two unswitched battery leads to the ecm. Most wire them to the batteries or a circuit breaker in the battery box. IH gets powe at the starter. these wires will have a 10 or 15 amp ATC fuse if it is 10 replace it with a 15 per cummins. I have seen more times than I can remember this being the problem. Have rodents enjoyed the wiring? If it was running when parked I doubt the ecm is bad. Get a schematic for the ecm wiring it will illustrate the two power wires.

Fuses are good 1993 FLD120. The truck was Inside a Rodent free area. No Rats on wires. Power is going into the ECM, no signal is being transmitted

Does it have constant power as well as ignition.
Sometimes the fuel solenoid wont power up until the ecm senses engine position wich takes at least two revolutions. Reasons for the rodent question a customer sent a picture one day of a mouse on his dash, text said going down the road. Ol Mikey did a lot of damage in the dash.
Do you have access to a diagnostic tool?Catliner Thanks this. -
Tried Cummins directly? They should be able to test the ECM etc to see where the problem lies. If a wire is not broken etc, that may be the only thing left to do, unless you know someone with Cummins Insight (IIRC) that can come to you?

The only function of the ignition wire is for is to signal on or off to the ecm. All other power requirements are met by the unswitched power wires.

Before the company sold the truck they tried to get it running again. The batteries were out the entire time the truck was parked. They called freightliner and they plugged in and said that the ECM was dead, I looked in the dash. The dealer installed a Message center( i have no idea why other than to sell something) and checked battery connections prior to me purchasing the truck. I called a Salvage yard and they said 2 ECMs would fit Engine CPL1574. Computer 3619037 or another number. I forgot it. I can get ECM 3084473 but Its 300 miles away . I want to know if they are cross compatible and if that is the alternate choice. The guy at the salvage looked it up by the CPL

Cummins dealer themselves cannot test an ECM thats already off. Neither can the Freightliner dealer. They have to send it out. The Truck was running when it was parked. They parked because they got new Century Classes

That is odd my local dealer checked 2 out for me just a month ago. I will dig out the trouble shooting tree for this later today. I will get it posted as soon as I can. Do you have access to insite or any other diagnostics.
Catliner Thanks this. -
Cummins, Freightliner of Augusta Ga, and Savannah both said that they could only test if they had the complete truck. Not just the ECM
