That's what my thinking is, but that's why I thought I'd post it on here.
Buying another engine is more expensive. I will do that if we must, but I'd rather not. If I do that, I'll put a Detroit in it.
1994 N14 350 HP to 500ish HP, what's needed?

I have made 600hp to the ground with a n14 that started as 430 i beleave it was with no parts at all and yes his is 350 so 500 is not going to be possable without some kind of parts. But the best way is to rebuild it with the 500hp parts injectors cam pistons and all then reprogram the ecm. to make it a true 500hp to the wheels.

If you do not have a "red head", you mechanically will be limited to 460. Mine was a 410/370, and I had it turned up to 460. It was a pulling beast, even at "only" 460.

Is yours a celect or celect +?
I've got 500 celect + cpl in my phone, just have to find it -
This is cpl 2592
Cam 3411327
Piston 3803741
Injector 3411767
Turbo 3804502
Started out as a 435-1650 flashed to 500-1650 -
Just got off the phone with Cummins. I have a CPL 1807 and it needs to be changed to either a CPL 1944 or a 2003. Both are 500HP. Injectors and pistons is the only hard parts that change.

If you are anywhere near SC I have some N-14 engines for sale. Have a red top sitting in the shop already out that a guy bought from us to have put in another truck but he never did it. I am ready to get it out of my side stall.
