While not being all that common I'm told after 10 years it could happen anytime. Evidently they contain a small battery that will wear out and also components that can heat up and get strained from bad grounding, corrosion in the harnesses etc.

Ours ('93 model, which I assume would apply) did the same thing in the fall of 2010. Turned out to be a coolant temp sensor, if I remember correctly.

I,d check what the Old Man said and if you don,t find anything then I,d be looking at your trs sensor - quite common
