I own a 1997 Volvo straight truck that was converted to a 80 barrel tank to haul saltwater. I have been doing this for about 7 months now. today, another guy relieved me and drove my truck for me. He called to tell me PTO wasnt working. I got there and checked all fuses and basic stuff i knew to check. When i engage it and let off on clutch, no sound or anything starts up. PTO shaft doesnt even spin. I'm a rookie and dont know to much about the PTO. any help or advice would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

he might not have turned it off last load, get under and CK.
-
I had used it prior to his driving and it ran perfect and nothing was wrong with it when i finished. He has driven it before and knows how to operate it.

ok is it cable or air to turn on.
-
it is air.

get under CK. when switch is on if arm moves, or see if U can push it in by hand.
-
yes, see if you can turn the shaft by hand or minimal torque with pipe wrench...
-
I can spend shaft by hand. thats no problem. Its like it has no power to turn on the PTO at all.

there have been times when I pulled end dumps the pto wouldn't enave you would turn it on and nothing. it was air operated. I would have to climb under truck with a small hammer and tap the pto shaft in to get it to engage.
