My original engine didn’t have jakes on it. I added them to the new engine. I read that ALL trucks were wired from the factory for jakes. I have the connections in the injector wiring harness. My issue is inside the cab. I have two connectors that are not plugged into anything. Maybe these are it. I dunno.

Freightliner was of no use due to the age of the truck. Their new software is only good till 2000 or so. They said some dealers have the old software. I called around with no such luck. I was able to get a few wiring schematics from a garage and he can wire them for me but I think I can do this myself. Plus I need to save money as some of you know my issues with this entire project.

So, I’m reaching out to see if anyone has any old books, schematics, notes, etc. I will attach what I was given.
The wiring is all yellow in color but is numbered and I can read the numbers. Wasn’t sure if these numbers are Freightliner or Detroit or both…..meaning they worked together on the engine specific wiring and made it easier for diagnosis.

I went through a few junkyard trucks but couldn’t trace the wiring very far and some had different numbers.

And forgive me if this is easy for some. Wiring and schematics is not my strong suit at all. I’m a step above a blind person trying to figure this out.

On the schematics they show 30 pin connectors. Mine are different. Bottom is 36. Top only has 3 wires so not much going on there.

Maybe I can get the #s from the wires going to my jakes. I’m sure yours is pre wired. Probably the 2 you’re thinking. I’ll check tomorrow.

I think the 30 pin they’re referring to is on the ecm connection. I think the other plug on the ecm is for the injector harness. I’m lost on electrical stuff, have seen a few threads here on adding jakes. Should all be the same on any Freightliner w/ddec3 or 4. Mines a 2000 ddec 4. Freightliner never changed much on the FLDs. I’ll try to get a # from the wires at the jake switches.

Excuse out of my summer of leisure, I have been running hard this week and will be moving forward for sometime.

Normally the plugs are in the dash above park brake valves. Should plug in. However ECM can be configured differently. So just adding switches may not get you jakes. Ecm will need programed for jakes. Maybe you get lucky and it works. But never happened in my world.
