No brake lights at all so i checked fuses and relays, did some research and found two brake switch wires with 4v and im pretty sure it goes to the ecm but thought id ask first before jumping the gun

I had no brake lights on my 98 w900 and it was in the turn signal/hazards switch pigtail on the steering column. I tested for power at the air operated switches behind the dash and chased it to the turn signal pigtail/connector.

i can check that but isthe wire labeled brake sw suppose only have 4v

it is but someone ik who use to work on electrical systems said to double check how much voltage should come out

There service brake switch for the ECM will show 5v or less with the key switch on.
Service brake switch for the brake lights should have 12v all the time, key on or key off.Oxbow Thanks this. -
thank you that should help ill have do more digging on the truck then. If you have any suggestions on what to look for that would be great and how to tell if the switch went bad

Replace the brake switch but nothing changed
