I've owned this truck four month's,,, it has a S-60 Detroit,,, speedo reads 970,000.00. When engine is warmed up and idle set to 1000 rpm , I notice white smoke coming from the engine blowby tube, some called it the ""engine slobber tube".

I have read there is not great concern as the Series 60 is famous for this.

I'm asking for your input,,, The head was replaced at one point and the turbo, Seeing I did not see it replaced and got the info second hand "could be a lie", but this smoke leads me to think other than good about it. Seeing I have never owned a Series 60 I have no past experience to rely on..
Many thanks tothose who could address my problem "if I have one".

Yes, they all have some blow by. As long as it isn't using "lots" of oil and seems to pull ok I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. It will have some oil slobber at the bottom that will make a huge mess spraying back over the course of time. The engine is simply old and a little tired.

im not exactly sure , but i drove a 03 14L 430hp s60 with 500,000-600,000 and it was doing the same thing , i was told by the mechiacs thats just the s60 when its getting tired but i dont know never had any problems with it.

after that i stepped up to a 05 14L 525hp EGR engine with 100,000 and it never had any blow by so i dont know if that means anything

Thanks for the reply,,, At this point there is only a few drops of oil, its just annoying to see that smoke.

I have run into this situation with quite new engines but you say you engine has over 9 hundred thousand on it.If you are really concernd that you may have a problem get the engine tested for blowby .You can have this done on a dyno or hook up a namometer wire tie it to where you can read it and take a drive and see what readings you get with engine under load.Alot of times with the series 60s what you see is oil vapor escaping the engine.I had a couple of engines that were built around '99 and it was around that time that the way the pistons were cooled was changed from oil going through the connecting rods to spray tubes similar to what Cat uses that sprays the bottom of the pistons and that seemed to create alot of oil vapor that is seen as smoke coming from the crakcase ventalation tube.I tested these situations a number of times and there was no blowby.IMO there may be nothing at all wrong with your engine but for peace of mind have it checked.

A ready-made toxic fog machine.Typical Detroit.Might run forever like that.Still better than the "wet-spot" left by its ancestors.

Blowby on a DDE 60 is 1-3" have it tested on a dyno to measure. if the smoke from blowby tube is puffing like smoke signals thats a sign the eng needs an overhaul. steady flow may be just normal blowby, they all have some.
