Another tip of advice (actually, 2) I can give you if you are running equipment into Canada:
1) Make sure you have the two required oversize load signs (both the black on yellow "Oversize Load" sign, and the red and white "D" sign (required if running into Quebec)).
2) Make sure that said equipment, if used, is clean as new. Americans and Canadians alike frown on trading dirt and plant materials stuck in tracks and tires.

Thanks for that...Never thought about such things. So what do you call a mobile pressure washer from a border town or what?
-
It's best to wash it prior to loading the machine on board the trailer. However, in the event it is required (say, a little out of the way area that somebody forgot about), calling a mobile pressure washer on the side the machine is loaded on (before getting to the border). Customs WILL inspect it, it is very rare that customs will not inspect used heavy equipment.
If a contaminated area is found, customs will have a pressure washer come out and clean the machine in quarantine, which I believe is at driver's cost, and have your credit card, it isn't going to be cheap. Essentially, make sure the machine is clean as new, meaning clean as when it came out of the factory. It doesn't have to look new, just be clean as new. -
