Everybodies kind of missing the point here. Why would you drink and then drive with any amount of alcohol in your system if your the holder of a CDL.I have my share of drinks, but I never drive after.Hello.
-
One drink, 1 hour minimum before you get behind the wheel. To the OP's original question about why they sell beer in truck stops: 1 It is not illigeal to drink on your off duty time, as long as you will not be driving before the achahol can clear your system. 2 Most truck stops cater to 4 wheelers as much as they do trucks and C Driving after drinking shows a level of irresponsibility that should not be accepted in someone who 80,000 lbs of squish Honda at his finger tips.

This applies unless you're outside the U.S.
The one hour rule comes from the fact that it takes the body 1hr. to metabolise one half ounce of alcohol. That would be a 12oz beer, a glass of wine or a shot of liquor. Theoreticaly consuming one alcoholic beverage per hour poses no increased risk for impairment. -
I believe that is 1 hour per half ounce of alcohol after you have stopped drinking. I believe as long as your consuming the alcohol your body is not processing the alcohol as well. I could be incorrect on this and if I am would be greatly appreciative if someone can correct my misconception.

Well said my friend, couldnt have said it better myself.

I'd like to point out, from personal experience, that some counties in Ohio can have less tolerance on drinking and driving than the State law. In Clermont county, if you have more than 0.02% driving anything, it's considered reckless operation. It's not a DUI but it can be equally damaging to your career because of the insurance question. The wise thing to do would be to make sure you are alcohol free for 12 hours before getting behind the wheel of anything.
4wheelJoshua Thanks this. -
I am 6 foot tall, and at this point weight 210 lbs, although most of my life I have been around 190. I have a low tolerance to alcohol, and after 2 beers I would be buzzed.
Having said that, I know the normal is what you posted, just saying not everone reacts the same to alcohol, or drugs for that matter. -
True, but still your BAC would still be like he said.
-
And it is also a prime example of impaired driving with a BAC less than the legal limit.
I find it also varies even for an individual. There are times when I can drink six beers and feel nothing and another time I have one or two of the same beer and feel buzzed.
