DODGE CO. (WITI) — Two people were killed and four were hurt in a violent crash involving four vehicles in Dodge County on Thursday afternoon, June 6th.
The wreck happened just before 4 p.m. on State Highway 33 between County Highway AY and Madison Rd. in the Town of Herman.
Officials say the crash began when a Ford Expedition SUV was headed eastbound on Highway 33 when the driver tried to pass a semi. The driver wasn’t able to pass the semi, and as that driver tried to get back into the eastbound lane behind the semi, the driver struck the semi and lost control of the SUV — which drifted into the westbound lanes. A pickup truck headed westbound struck the SUV, and another vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 33 behind the pickup also struck the SUV.
The driver of the SUV and the driver of the pickup truck were pronounced dead. Four others were injured, including on person who is in critical condition. Among the injured is a child that was ejected from one of the vehicles involved.

I have noticed more 4 wheelers doing whatever it takes to get by any vehicle. It is like they own the road and will run people off to pass.

Police need to do something about them.

No reason to have risked their lives here.

It is the job of the vehicle doing the passing to select a safe location to pass. If anything, the truck "backing off" could have caused the wreck because it would have meant the difference between the SUV clearing the rear of the trailer vs. clipping it as BOTH vehicles slowed.

When being passed, don't alter what you are doing...stay the course. It is up to the vehicle doing the passing to determine if they have enough pedal to complete the pass or if they need to get on the brakes and fall back in line. When the vehicle doing the passing aborts the pass at the same time the vehicle being passed gets on the brakes to slow down and allow the pass, the passing vehicle is pinned out there in the oncoming traffic lane.

I know that stretch of road from the other side of the hill to past that farm is no-passing for the guy headed east who caused the crash.

That is the gospel truth. It's amazing to me that there are not at least
20 or more of these every day. Some of these people need to be banned from driving anything.

this is the only part of the story that struck a nerve and made me a lil sad, but glad the child was only injured and hope it isnt severe. the 4 wheeler driver that failed to pass made a terrible judgement call and it cost him/her there life which they got what they deserved but the others that got hurt injured died did not.
and no way will they blame the trucker allis327

Curious as to how/why the SUV Struck the Truck.
Not sure we will ever find out now though.
