I think he is talking about the glad hand connections must be marked red and blue, otherwise you would have numerous new drivers hooking them up wrong and well though it is funny to watch would cause a lot of problems. The hoses can be any color you want them to be. Pink with purple dots of that's what you like.

Unfortunately, that was neither what he stated, nor is it what the thread is about. The OP was talking about discolored brake lines, not incorrectly colored brake lines and the feller making the statement about blue and red only didn't say gladhand connections, he said brake lines. I'm still waiting for him to show me the regs outlining color requirements.

I didn't see where Snoopy was waxing poetic, but I saw nothing about tulips.

I get what you're saying, but he said "brake lines". You and I and others knew what he meant, but many will take it as written. In fact, I think he does, too.

Point is; when making a statement of this type, it is best to know your material and make it clear lest misinformation become the result.

Oh, and deciphering poetry was never my strong suit. Had to go look it up. How Cummings wrote it was difficult enough, but your transcription made it almost impossible. ;)

If it was only a violation you have an allotted amount of time to do the repair. Not sure how long and I am not looking it up right now. Now if he had been put ops the first time then it would mean the repair has to be made immediately or before the truck moved. If the officer cut him some slack, told him it should be an oos but let him slide and the repair didn't get done then it's the drivers own fault of not seeing to it before going through that scale again.

This is what is meant by discolored.

    Hose/tubing

    • Damage through outer reinforcing ply. Rubber-impregnated fabric cover is not reinforcement ply. Thermoplastic nylon may have braid reinforcement or color difference between cover and inner tube. Exposure of second color warrants Out-of-Service judgment.

But that is not what he said LOL, Now here is the rub pun intended, a lot of air hoses do not have a color change I can post numerous photos on here of various air lines that do not. However if he had stated that the hoses had been rubbed through then we would not be here right now clarifying what he was talking about. They were not discolored, or blue and red, they were worn through by rubbing. Now you can buy guards to prevent just this type of oos from happening in the first place for a few dollars.

If we didn't deal in semantics around here, this place would get real boring real fast. :D

Hmm, I don't see where I was supporting any one poster. I only posted how the CVSA defines discolored.
