I used to get upset by it. But, there are far more important things to let my blood pressure rise over.
Can't tell you how often I've been flipped off. Usually, my reaction is, "What'd I do?!?" Then I recognize that someone is not flipping me off personally. They don't like my truck.
Usually, it's guys, but some women have done it. Ages ranged from around 10 years old to over 50. Either you learn to ignore it, or you go postal. Which will it be for you?

Lot of motorists out there have the whole 'Jekyl/Hyde' transformation the moment they get behind the wheel. You've probably seen it riding with some of your friends.
If someone flips me off, they flip me off. If that's all they do, rather than something stupid (like swerving in front of me and slamming on their brakes), I'll actually be happy about it, in that they simply flipped me off instead of doing something stupid (like swerving in front of me and slamming on the brakes). -
I got onto I-80 from I-57 in Illinois amid all that construction they're doing. As soon as I hopped on I saw a sign that said "Trucks use left lane." The left lane was also higher than the right, so I was extra cautious moving over. I checked my mirrors like I always do and saw a car quite a ways back, so decided to move. Well they were doing like 30 over the posted speed limit so caught up to me quick. After I got moved into the lane I was required to be in, they passed me on the right and I got a 4 for 1 deal. Yep, a bird flying out of every window in the car. I just waved and laughed. Ignorance.

LMAO same thing happened to me in a construction zone last week here in pa . same sign t/b left lane only ,man did i catch hell that day. Just smiled and waved back! and laughed. my 13 yr old daughter was with me and she thought i was crazy.

When I'm in a company truck, I shrug it off.
If someone ever gives me the bird when I'm in my personal vehicle, I'll make sure they never use that finger again. The world doesn't revolve around you, and you aren't god's gift to driving. -
LOL. Only 2. I get atleast 1 a day. I got the finger from 3 different drivers in less than a minute. They all had to follow me up bald knob mountain on route 30 in PA. Its a 5 mile 9% grade. Needless to say they are usually pissed at me by the time we get to the top
Logan76 Thanks this. -
I got one in Ohio but it was kinda my fault. I was getting off the highway onto some U.S. or state highway. I had never been that way before and was brand new as a solo driver. Well the sign pointed to the two left lanes as an exit, and it was coming up fast. Traffic was moderate to heavy, and I flicked on my signal, waited a few, and moved over. I guess the guy coming up on me didn't like that. I also didn't realize that 3 lanes exited. He came around me on the right and instead of watching the road in front of him he stared at me in the mirror while waving his bird at me. I just kept waving and smiling. Now flipping people off solves nothing and makes no sense to me, but at least that one had some justification.

If it affected you then he won!
You are going to get lots of sign language about your driving and you need to make yourself laugh every time it happens. Otherwise you are going to stress yourself silly!
Make a game of it. Every time you get a gesture put a dollar in a bucket. Save this fund up for a fancy dinner or little hotel stay. Now you will find yourself trying to get the finger!
When I first started driving I was just outside Phoenix in traffic and some guy got pissed at me and threw his bean burrito at my truck. Splatted all over the driver side door! That pissed me off so bad I couldn't see straight! Nothing you can do about it so you just have to learn that if you let it affect you then the other person wins! If you can laugh about when it happens then you win every time.
So break out the tip jar and start saving up your dollars!

Someone throwing something at your vehicle is a assault, and depending on the item and where it was aimed is a ADW.
The middle finger is abuse.
These offences you can press charges on.
Road rage is something state troopers absolutely hate.scottied67 Thanks this.
