Prime isn't really a "laid back" company either from what the drivers post.

It's not likely Prime will take someone who quit after 2 months. Prime is very picky, they turn down many people with much more minor dings on their record.

I worked almost 20 years at Averitt. They have a thousand different jobs. If you want OTR, what they call Truck Load, you will hardly ever touch any freight. It sounds like they wanted you for some dedicated mattress customer. Averitt is a very good company with excellent benefits. The pay varies based on which type of trucking you do with them. Mileage for OTR/Truck Load drivers varies based on which terminal, what they call Service Center, you work for. Nashville, for example has too many truck load drivers, so they are lucky to get 1500 miles per week. While City pick up & delivery drivers make $27/hour. Their Cracker Barrel account is always in need of drivers. The LTL, or linehaul division, is the only division that doesn't take rookies and that's because they have more than enough experienced Averitt drivers trying to get linehaul they don't recruit rookies.

If you can follow rules cheerfully like a boy scout and not see their prohibition against wearing bones through your nose as a civil rights violation it's a good place to work, but not for cowboys and renegades. They pay for uniforms and you are required to wear them.

I'm bet it's looked at in yearly increments due to seasonal change. 6 mos exp = no experience in the next 6 to come.

Check out Carter Express. Best starting company out there in my personal opinion.

The way you phrased that comment was. You make it sound like it gets easier. It most assuredly does NOT. Yes some of the most dangerous drivers on the road have years driving. However as to the OP. If he can not stand 2 months he won't stand 2 months anywhere. There is no perfect carrier.

Lol. I’ve been driving for 19 months. After 12 months at Swift I went local for 4 months, got tired of local traffic and went back OTR. I am almost 4 months in at my new company but some companies I applied to have been calling. One of them was just calling to tell me sorry, that I needed more OTR experience. They said they require 18 months experience and I’m like dude, I have been driving every day for 19 months straight. And they were like how many states did you run at such and such company for 4 months... err, 5?

Yea OTR is 6 or more states apparently... so regional experience doesn’t even count, even if it is consecutive combination cdl a safety sensitive drug tests and daily driving experience... even if you’ve had to drive for 15 hours a day and put in more miles in an ungoverned truck that you’ve had to take off-road(because you’re how the road gets there in the first place) for 4 months... just in a particular area...

    Their loss.
