Leave it alone, run new coax from the radio to the antenna mount, buy quality coax, not truck stop crap. Buy a quality mount and buy bonding strips or grounding strips. Research what has been said here and get that all done before you mess with the antenna.

All I just typed out has been the only way to get it to work right.
