Nowadays the rules are a little different. As discussed elsewhere a lot companies do yearly audits on driving records and they require drivers to fully disclose any tickets, regardless if it was in a CMV or personal vehicle, including seat belt violations. Used to be where law enforcement had to pull you over for something else before citing you for a seat belt violation but a lot agencies complained and that legal loophole was closed up in some jurisdictions.

Nothing like a little shock therapy early on. It was the mindset of those Dr.Ed. horror films that were deemed too graphic. I read, being ejected from the vehicle is the #1 cause of fatalities.

@JerryD13 drivers legal plan, it's like $500 retainer since you're not with them already, they work with the issuing county for reductions

I tend to agree, but their line of thinking is if something happens it holds you in the seat and helps you maintain control of the truck.

Had a one horse town cop stop me for no seat belt. And after he discovered my 59 Ford pickup didn't have one, he proceeds to tell me my truck was not legal to drive on public roads, unless i installed lap and shoulder belts. The City Attorney thru it out and had the cop write me a letter of apology.

Truth of the matter is the DOT had big DRAGNETS -- out in Washington State Nov 1 - and they snagged me
two different cops -- the CHAIN VIOLATION - they had 10 DOT cars out on I 90 West Bound near TA on exit 38
and i got stopped along with many others -- we generally have chains in the trucks -

THE SEAT BELT was a cop looking to write up any trucker he could find seemed like - end of the month - QUOTA -
yes, its the law to have seat belts on in Washington State - but this law is also used when you want to stop
anyone -- it works real-good -- either way i get your point. ]

I'm sure you will remember to grab a few bags for next year. We had snow in Central WA like Oct 25th, so it's not uncommon to see snow on the passes by Nov 1st.

Best of luck on reducing the Seatbelt ticket.
