I had similar - not as bad though - a situation not long ago when I found out upon arrival - busting my arse with overnight driving - that the load was not due until 5 days later. It was a broker's fault to write down the wrong appointment date. Two typical millennial - do little&entitled to a lot - jerks were completely uninterested to remedy the situation. I ended up calling the broker (Convoy), shipper, and someone at that facility... I think that it was after calling the shipper when they called and convinced the broker (after all the shipper is the broker's customer) to make things right. So I returned the product back to the shipper for the average lane rate found on Truckstop.com, also got paid 5 hour detention. I gotta say that Convoy did the right fix for me.
I was still pissed by seeing all that waste of someone else's money (to pay me) and my own effort, because I went back over 1000 miles to return the stuff that most likely got reloaded onto another truck within hours of my arrival to get back to the same place where they refused to work it in. I understand contracts and taking care of your own business but what happened to common sense and a little bit of consideration to someone else's plight.

Even Walmart, in Cheyenne, WY back in 2017 had more understanding when it turned out that the delivery was scheduled two days later (while the JB Hunt's rate confirmation clearly showed the wrong appointment date) and were kind enough to work me in after a few hours of stand by....
