Peterbilt has a battery saver option that allows you to turn your sound and Nav system on for 20 minutes with the key off. When you turn the key on it is supposed to disable the option. I used it a few days ago now it shuts off every 20 minutes while going down the road. I found that when I push the cd eject and "cancel" at the same time it causes all of my gauges to zero out for a few seconds but doesn't eliminate the 20 minute shut down. Any idea how to keep my system from shutting off while Im driving down the road?

Yep.. Just like EVERYTHING else on this POS Peterbilt. Nobody knows what is wrong, how to fix it, or why it broke... At least once a week I go to a Peterbilt shop and hear "we have never seen this before... we don't know how to fix it..." or it sits for days until they hand me a bill and say "sorry".
I've owned 11 Peterbilts and nothing else in my life, never again! Im buying a Volvo.

wht model is the stereo? is it OEM or aftermarket? did you try pulling the stereo out and pulling fuse (with truck off) and see if it forces it to go back to factory settings?

It is the factory stereo. It is integrated with the smart nav, and all the communications with the ecm. I pulled the unit out and disconnected all of the plugs, pushed the reset and unhooked the truck batteries. It did not fix it. The tech at Pete just nonchalantly said "looks like you need a new unit"... Yeah, no big deal, I have an extra $800 sitting around after having my POS in the shop for 4 of the 5 months I've owned it.

I had the same issue with a stock Kenworth unit in a 680, I pulled the stereo, ordered an aftermarket harness wired new harness, no power to new radio, come to find out I had a bad continous power wire going to the male connecter out of truck,so basically it was getting no power from ignition, so I bypassed ignition wire and wired head unit direct,it stays on all the time,I just have to remember to turn it off when I stop, saved me 2-3 days downtime at KW and about $300 in shop labor,I got rid of the Delphi trashy unit and have a rocking Alpine

The FL I drive is the same way. Intermittent problems with no discernable pattern and nobody wants to "chase a ghost" to fix it when there are know issues with other trucks in line. If it doesn't throw a code they won't even try, just a basic diagnostic so they can charge you for something.

Does the unit still come on when the ignition is turned on? (Without pressing any radio power button) If so, not sure what to tell you. But in case it doesn't then the power wire from the "engine on" side is not making connection to the radio for whatever reason and it only has power on the constant power side.
