    Welcome bob

Chance? well I like to think there is a chance at anything.. But in your case its going to be a little chance.. Most want OTR within the last 6 months to a year... Now, I have heard of companies taking people and putting them out with a trainer... Then letting them go OTR

You have plenty of experience so I would think your chance would be better then most..

I personally can't name a company but let this post sit a few days.. Good people here and they may be able to help you out with company names...

Bob, I can't speak for any van compamies, but the only 2 flatbed co. I found that will hire without recent experience or school are Maverick and Arrow. I'm in a similar situation, haven't driven since 1998. I've been approved by Maverick, just waiting for the call to come to orientation

From what I've been told, it's primarily the insurance companies that dictate the driving requirements for the OTR companies. But I can't figure it out. A company that will take fresh from school students won't take someone like us and put them with a trainer for a few weeks. Then there are companies that don't take new students that will. Go figure.

Anyway, most companies I called wanted recent full school, a few just wanted a refresher, and a couple required neither.

as far as insurance co,s go it might have to do with age . they figure that at our age we are a health risk, and may have pre existing health problems.i.e. thats why most co,s want you going to their doctor for a dot physical.that and newbies fresh out of school, are still GREEN to the trucking business and all it,s workings.:biggrin_255:they also will work cheaper. unfortunately with some trucking co,s ,the crappier the company, the weaker their hiring policy's
