2001 Freightliner Classic with N14 miss at idle.

    I think it’s supposed to be a 10, possibly less. I am certain it’s not a 15.

    I wonder if this is an old issue or a new one.
    The truck has still been running and starting without it. But my understanding is it can send over currents to the ECM? Kinda wish the truck had a better way to protect itself.

    Also it isn't confidence inspiring that it has a 15....I had also read an older thread that said 10amp was the correct size. But I like to have multiple sources and haven't been able to find it till your response.

    It is without a doubt a 10…I happen to be working on an m11 electrical problem today and noticed a the grounding fuse is called out as a 10 on the cummins wire diagram….possibly some oems might have used a different size but I doubt it.
    I know you have a n14 but the electrical part is one in the same.

    Sorry I didn't update. Put a 10 in it this morning. Didn't blow out. Had no issues all day. Idle still isn't how I want it but oh well.

    Hey everyone just wanted to update this thread. It went from 65 to -10 here a few days ago and I forgot to treat my fuel so of course the truck gelled up after I started it. Anyways. It has the Davco filter housing that can be completely taken apart. Since the fuel gelled I figured I would just take the whole thing apart, top and bottom since I never have. Well I put a new oring in the bottom of the housing since I was in there for the first time. When I got the truck going again there seems to be no miss anymore. So it might have been drawing air in that bottom oring and causing the miss at idle. If the miss comes back after this I will come back to update. But if I don't, this was the fix. I haven't run the truck a lot yet since I had it all apart so time will tell.

    Hey guys wanted to give one final reply on this thread because I know these Davco filters seem to be really popular in the trucking industry. In my experience there seems to be a lot of different filters you can get for them and they all seem to come with different orings for the top vent cap, the plastic sight top and then the bottom cap. Maybe I am just getting the wrong filters or something, but I know they fit and filter fine. Anyways down to the point. My Davco had a "thinner" oring on the bottom and a fatter one on the top. I keep all the orings from previous changes if they look good so I put one of the fat ones on the bottom as well. So now the top sight glass section and the bottom aluminum disc have the same fat round oring. This clears up the miss immediately. I even took it apart again and put the thin oring in to make sure I wasn't crazy. The miss came right back immediately. Even with a brand new thinner oring on the bottom the miss would pop right up. One other thing I wanted to mention is there seems to be what I would consider extra bubbles that float to the top now, with the fatter oring on the bottom but the truck runs way better. No Fuel leaks or anything so I think I am finally good to go. No more annoy miss at idle. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Also just my 2 cents if you are looking at a Davco just keep your OEM filters. I miss having OEM filters and might go back to them at some point on this truck. Thanks!
