Hi, I have a 2001 Freightliner 5.9 diesel that will not accelerate when pushing the gas pedal. It was running fine the last time I drove it 3 day's ago. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks

Gee, trying to diagnose a truck that is half a continent away with no information. Looks like you have come to the right place.

This happened to one of my trucks.
It may have an electronic pedal and the sensors went on it.
The only way to find out is to hook a computer up and it should show a fault for the pedal. -
That is kind of what I was thinking. I will have someone check it out.
Right before I tried to take off I inserted my GPS into a lighter outlet my friends mechanic hooked up. It started shooting out sparks and I quickly unhooked it. I am not sure if this would have anything to do with it. -
did you check all the fuses??
-
No I really do not know how. I have a mobile mechanic coming tomorrow to look at it.
-
should have a fuse box in the cab and one under the hood. i would look for the one in the cab first. just like checking the fuses in a car. you may have blown one when you saw the sparks. could be a quick fix.
