My 2001 international 4700 is throwing a warn light and then I have not throttle! It does it when it’s at idle and when I’m slowing down to a stop light and last about 4 or 5 minutes then it shuts off and and I get my throttle back sometimes it will work for 50 feet sometimes for 20 miles but I scaned it and the only code is high/low volts for oil temp sensor so I changed the oil temp sensor and still nothing! Any ideas?

DT466? I think these had issues with cam sensors acting up and not throwing faults. Been a while since I messed with them.

I would suspect a wiring issue with your throttle pedal. What did you use to scan it?

Would definitely check the throttle pedal, all it takes is for the pedal wiring to be slightly jacked up and or an intermittent when it tells the truck the position of the pedal, because the way that they work is it just sends a signal in the form of resistance which in turn controls how much fuel is being sent. So let’s say for example the range is from 300 ohms at it idle and the accelerator pedal position is at 0 and then all the way to the floor it sends 600ohms and the position is at 100%, and whether it’s the sensor in the pedal itself or the wiring it could be throwing the truck 927 ohms and the truck is confused so does nothing

    Oil temperature or oil pressure?

I only say that because I'm thinking maybe the ECM is going into "shutdown" mode, did the temp light go away when you changed the temp sensor and if not, what IS the temperature of the engine oil? Should be at least close to coolant temperature.

If the engine is programmed for protection, it will actually shutdown, not limit you to idle only. So either the oil pressure code is old or your scanner is giving the wrong numeric values because I believe you have a throttle pedal/circuit problem. Do you have the actual fault code?

Been thinking about how to respond to this for the last couple of days and just wanted to say that HE never mentioned oil pressure, I did, just was wanting a reply from him for verification and with all due respect, HE said the engine DID shut down. I worked out of a DT466 service truck for a while that had a cracked oil pressure sending unit that leaked constantly and made a mess out of that side of the block, when I was allowed time to fix it I had to pressure wash the engine because I'm anal about that kind of stuff... engine started , no throttle response, found a sensor at the front of the block about midway (crank, cam?) that was full of water (I am not an International tech), blew it dry, off we go. Not here to debate anybody and like you I eat, sleep and breath this kinda stuff for a living, thanks.
