12.7 ddec IV. I run the west a lot was really wondering, what motor would be better suited for that. I know you can really wake the ddec IV up with a proper tune, and if you want... A few hard parts. Then I got this mxs acert, heard good and bad things.

That new F-150 is coming with 3 liter powerstroke. Supposedly it will get an estimated 30 mpg.

    Lol

Start with a bare block 12.7
And bare block C15 acert, less money to build a Detroit, less money spent in fuel, less money to repair, or replace.

    jsnell and Rideandrepair Thank this.

I’ve got my years mixed up but had a driver telling his egr woes claimed his prior Detroit had 2 egr valves . He must have been mistaken that doesn’t sound right

Factory settings for S60 12.7 is 435hp/1550lbft. You'll need ECM tuning software I'm pretty sure to get it higher.

Most guys don't have a problem with a 12.7 running 80k gross or less on hills, but make sure your gearing is in the 3.55-3.70 range and have at least a 13 speed. You won't ever be first to the top and will likely get passed by a lot of people if you go any heavier.

And then there is the argument about higher power motors getting better fuel economy on bigger hills at bigger weights, because they spend less time going up it.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.
