TLDR: Truck won't shut off at key. Tested relays & pulled ignition sw harness w/o change.
Leading up to the issue of not shutting off, the truck previously had a delayed shut off. I would turn the key off and 2-5 seconds later it would shut off. Now, the key only starts the truck. To stop the engine, I am removing one of the relays under the hood. I tested it & all the other relays that I could find & only found 2 bad relays, but the issue remains after replacing them. Thinking it was an issue with the ignition switch, I pulled the connector off the back of the key switch, but the truck again defied me in shutting it off. Have I missed a relay somewhere or could the issue be in the ECU?

@Goodysnap
I recall having this issue on one. But for the life of me I can't recall what it was.
Idm staying poweres up or bad?

With that year, you should have an old school 466E square top engine with the single CEC ecm. That should have only one relay to power it. It should be in the fuse/relay box under the hood by the firewall. Should be label ECM Power Module, or something close to that. Ignition power goes into the ECM at a separate pin. The ECM itself turns on this main relay by supplying ground to pin 85 of that relay. You will need to make sure that the relay itself isn't sticking, or wire J97T from pin 85 of the ECM power relay isn't rubbed through on something metal and shorted to ground all the time, causing the relay to stay energized all the time. The ECM itself could be internally faulty, but considered this absolutely dead last.

I meant to also tag you. And come to think about it. I belive it was a 2005-06ish that I had issues with. Did that have the IDM up in the wheel well? Been to many years ago. -
My solution was to install a kill switch on the relay. I've installed it in such a was that no factory wires needed to be cut.
Heavyd Thanks this. -
Awesome solution!
