    Hi everyone
I got a buddy that recently got his 2003 peterbuild truck with a c-15 engine rebuild by a local shop. Part warranty from cat and local shop warranty labour of course. Breaks down and has to get it towed 2 weeks later. It hurt just listening to him .Local shop has to get it sent to local peterbuild shop to check if it were parts or labour that went wrong. At the end of it all they are saying the truck is too old and a different part caused the other part to fail thats why it broke down. This doesn’t make sense to both of us. I’m go with him tomorrow so they can tell us what can cause a whole engine to fail. Anyone have experience with something like this?
    Thanks ahead !!!

Sometimes that excuse is legitimate and sometimes it’s not.
Take plenty of pictures and get a full separate explanation from each shop and then report back here to see what the general consensus is.

So you had someone rebuild the engine that came with a warranty, but the vehicle has been taken to the dealer to determine the failure? If the shop that rebuilt the engine cant determine the failure I surely wouldnt be going back. As previously posted there is not enough information here to come to any sort of educated decision.

BTW. Just because your going to the dealer doesnt automatically mean you'll get someone that really knows the engine. After all , Pete hasn't used a CAT engine in their trucks almost 10 years.

That’s all the info I had but sorry for the wait. The service guys were all off and the shop guy that worked on the truck was off too. I get back to everyone ASAP and post everything so this doesn’t happen to someone else. The reason it was token to the dealer Cat told the local shop to take it there to see if it was a parts problem I guess cat uses them for local work or something.
