I'm having no luck with my freightliner dealership or the salesman at raneys chrome shop so maybe one of you guys have come across this issue.
I had to replace my bumper so instead of getting the factory ugly 3 piece steel bumper with plastic end caps i bought a chrome one from raneys. Made by valley chrome. Valley chrome supplies bumpers for most of the chrome shops, not just raneys but also wildwood, iowa80, empire, and many others so while they might not be the best, they are good enough for a cheap work truck. The bumper on question is supposed to be a direct replacement for 04 an older columbias.
The issue is the frame brackets on the truck do not line up with with the predrilled holes on the bumper, its not even close enough to drill new holes and make it work. I called freightliner thinking that the factory used different frame brackets if you ordered the truck with a chrome or stainless bumper, but this parts counter guy is basically useless and can only look up parts by vin number.
My question for you guys is have any of you replaced that 3 piece bumper on an 04 or older columbia with an after market 1 piece and did you have to buy new frame brackets? I can make some up but id rather not spend the better part of a day driving to Tampa to buy steel and then the rest of the night cutting, grinding, and drilling if i can just get some shipped to me in a day or two. This is one of those times that my time is with more to me than money. Just got a lot going on that i gotta get done so willing to pay vs save.
