What the heck are you talkin' about. Yeah, you said it yourself, "some sucker will always want a big Pete,," your Fruitliner, not so much. 379,better yet!dirthaller and Badmon Thank this.

Are these the only two trucks for sale on earth?
Look some more OP.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
Poor MPG will kill any profit. Something people don't think about is the Fuel Surcharge on loads. Unless the changes it ,they always like 6.5 MPG to figure out fuel surcharge. So if you driving a 379 wit 6NZ and only getting 5 or 5.5 MPG the more fuel goes up the more money you lose. Because the fuel surcharge is not enough to make up for you low 5.5 or 5 MPG. If diesel goes to $6 a gallon your out of business. If you get above 6.5 MPG the more fuel goes up the more money you make. Unless you getting ok MPG them older engine can be very expressive to run.
Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
The Cat guys, and I'm not one of them, tell me the 2ws is a better engine.
-
No. It’s a close second to the 6NZ out of the box. Because of the factory flash files (that make a squirt of pizz in the ocean difference in NOX emissions) some 2WS files outshine a 6NZ. However, all of the bad production runs of defective parts are more rare in a 6NZ. Less prone to bad cam bearings, crankshaft breaking, oil leaks, etc. You cannot go wrong with either IMO. The 2WS is ELD exempt unlike the 6NZ.Bean Jr. Thanks this.

I have heard the blocks are different, the 3406 block is stronger.
Thanks for pointing out what I have been repeatedly saying. 6nz is a 2000 model year engine, even though some were made in 1999.dirthaller Thanks this. -
6NZ is just another Cat IMO.
-
That would explain why the 2WS is a little heavier than the 6NZ.Bean Jr. Thanks this.
