    Hello -

My Speedometer and Odometer stopped working on my 2003 T2000.

The speedo does a power on self test when you start the truck. This is where the mph needle jumps to 100mph, then settles down to zero.

And the odometer is LCD digital. So the problem cannot be in the speedometer head.

My Cummins RoadRelay is also reading zero mpg.

I installed a new Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) on the tailshaft of the transmission. No change. I installed another new one, thinking the first new one may have been defective from the factory. No change.

I used a 1/2 turn gap, backing of the VSS after it hit the tailshaft teeth.

I traced the wire from the VSS as far forward as I could. No room on top of the transmission to fit in there much.

All other gauges work, except for the speedo and the odometer.

Any constructive comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

If you could find a known good one try it. But sounds like wiring issue from VSS. Maybe try to ohm it out from the plug back to the speedo head. Makes you miss the good ol' days of speedo cables....very simple..rarely a problem...easy to fix.
