How much would a 6NZ cost to rebuild? I’m looking at a 2003 T600 that needs rebuild and I’m thinking the truck price is reasonable. I don’t know much about CAT rebuilds but hear platinum a lot but don’t know what that means. Are there different levels depending On what the engine needs?

Lots of variables here. Who is doing the rebuild? You, a CAT house, or an independent shop you trust? Up until about 2 or 3 years ago you could get a standard platinum inframe done at just about any CAT house for $20k. Keep in mind that is just the engine internals. Doesn't include if your compressor is tired and ####ed or your 20 year old truck's fuel lines are shot, what kind of shape is the a/c system, your radiator? Coolant hoses, air lines, clamps, turbo?? etc, etc, ect.
Oxbow, 77fib77 and petefan4000 Thank this. -
Thanks for the reply. I would be going to CAT. I can replace externals and lines myself as needed. I just changed a thermostat on a 3406B two weeks ago which required compressor removal. I do all my work except rebuilds

In that case call a CAT shop Monday morning and ask. I'll be surprised if a platinum inframe is not at least $25k now if not more.
