Huh, didn't realize that these systems went that far back. My 03 KW definitely is not a multiplex system...wires everywhere behind my dash.

I have been in touch with Kustom Truck out of Oregon and they specialize in wiring harnesses for gliders. I'm waiting to hear back from them to see what they can do.

Would it really be that simple? This would be awesome, but definitely going to keep doing my research and get all of my ducks in a row.

I've never had to convert a multiplexed KW cab back to old school. I would imagine you'd pretty much have to gut the dash and re-wire from scratch with new gauges. Although I seem to recall reading an older thread that @Guntoter may have done that conversion recently.

    Guntoter Thanks this.

When it works, it works good. But 1 broken wire in the 2 wire backbone, failed terminating resistor or a short to power and you could essentially cripple the truck. Its not a fun system to troubleshoot TBH.

Very few things in the cab need to be changed. I needed a new TPS... A few little things like that, no big deal. You definitely DO NOT have to "gut the dash".

Thank you, I know that there are going to be things that will need tweaked, but I was hoping a gut job wasn't needed. They build new gliders all the time with the new cab that connect to 6NZ's, so the proper mods and electrical have to be out there.

Did you do a cab swap?

You do know KW will be able to answer your questions for you because they deal with some of the issues you are wondering about. You can start with their upfitters manual, it may be on line, it will break down the systems on the trucks and what model has what modules.

I am 90 percent sure kenworth didn't do multiplexing until 2010. Call the dealer Monday morning and verify though. But the answer to your question on plugging the 6nz to the newer cab yes it is that simple as long as it is a cat equipped cab.

I have found a couple of cabs from 07-09 that are CAT C-15 cabs. Thank you for the info and I am going to make a call Monday to see when the multiplexing started.

I read multiple places today about the medium duty trucks doing multiplexing starting in 2010, but nothing about the heavy duty's (T6, T8, or W9).
