does anyone know what ssmokey bear is talking about as far as the part he replaced by the thermostat housing? i have the same problem and is driving me crazy trying to figure it out and cummins is no help either. replaced egr about 6 mths ago for the same problem but it was throwing codes at that time. this time same symptoms but no codes and cummins does not want to warranty the valve since their are no codes. cannot figure out what part ssmokey bear is talking about because the actuator is on the turbo and controller is under the air compressor??:biggrin_25510::biggrin_25523:

The solution to my problem in all honestly was to turn the key on without starting the motor for 15-30 secs on a cold engine and unplugging the EGR valve. Drive it like that and problem solved. You will actually see an improvement in oil condition and fuel mileage.

    OR

Contact PDI Diesel and get an EGR block off and tune without EGR. www.pdidiesel.com

i did that and that did solve the hiccup problem but sometimes the egt would run higher than normal on a flat cruise so i thought you may have discovered the magic fix

How high? under load or on a cruise on level ground?

I would contact PDI diesel. They have a BUNCH of solutions for this engine...

Hey guys, I seem to be having the same problem with my truck too. I have deleted the EGR and have a new controller on the way. Just wondering if you have had any more problems si ce you made these posts?

Does anybody have an update on this I have an 870 ISX 2007 doing the same thing under load anything under 1,500 RPMs it starts hiccuping and blowing black smoke and you can hear the turbo going up and down and pitch I already have a new EGR valve no leaks all the manifold gaskets and turbo gasket were replaced
