Seen a truck yesterday. Guy is replacing a good 2004 Cat, with a 98 model 3406E. To stop having to run Elogs. Engine sure looked nice sitting there. Wrapped up full engine new paint and rebuilt from the ground up. Turbo, Alt, Starter, everything is on it.
Is this truck going to pass for a Glider truck? Being the engine is 99 or below? Sure would hate to know I threw $25,000. for the Engine. Plus shop pay to swap the engine out.
But this kid wants it and has the cash. So he's getting it done.

as long he has proof that it is a 98 built cat, he can run without an eld. same plans for the 04 t600, swap out the mbn for 2ws 3406e.
-
yes it does not need to be a factory glider kit just needs to have a 99 or older engine. the wording states to be determined by the model year of the engine.

Thanks guy's, guess he is going to get it done. Kid pulls Reefer units. And trying to beat the waiting time at the docks. I think the paper trail will still catch up with him in the end though.

Goin from either a MBM bridge junk motor or possibly a full blown bxs Accert boat anchor/--depending on actual build date of the truck----swapping to a single turbo 3406 is a big step up from either one----elogs or not....It's a win no matter how you slice it

I was told I cant pull the motor and drop and old one in pa wont inspect it have a 04 classic Detroit smog motor they are going by the year the truck is registered not the motor

We have a kid leased on with my outfit, he has a 2004 Freightliner with an old Series 60 in it, 1990's model, he isn't even sure what year, LOL! No issues up here in Michigan with it.
