I have a freightliner columbia series 60 detroit.. My truck looses about 2 gallons of coolant every 10,000 miles.
My truck has very little power also. There is heavy black smoke from the stacks. It sounds as if it is skipping.I also have poor mpg. Its about 4.2!!!

heavy black smoke and poor MPG... visit workshop for futher diagnostics becouse you may have bad EGR, bad VGT, bad boost lines ore bad intercooler... ore may be leaking injectors. I know how to check all this stuff with DDDL and hands and eyes. Loosing coolant..... what about EGR cooler? Any leak from head gasket, coolant overflow reservour, any bubbles in coolant? Wight smoke at idle and smell of coolant from exaust (hah, how easy to check EU truck with Weed Burner exaust!!!).
Ok. If you are the real DIYer I can help you.. if not... - drive to workshop! -
I have a couple codes.....I get a 44 & 39...

Hi Pablo ive got a similar problem on an 06 columbia with 14L Detroit its done 760000miles lots of black smoke, spluttering and like a loud backfire and a few jerks on acceleration, loss of power and bad mpgs 4.9. I was told to change egr valve which i did but stil the same! Checked my intercooler which had no leaks, changed vpod still same! Changed egr cooler and turbo but still same!Changed all sensors but stil same! Last trip it started losing coolant and some traces of coolant in oil ! Changed injector seals but still the same! What do you think it could be? Theres no active codes showing up on my nexiq thanx HUGE -
boy this sounds just like my truck

Holes in your cylinder liners from not keeping your coolant additives up to standard.(SCA's).
